Story
The film Drona created a lot of buzz and expectations. The hot photos of Priyamani added further interest in the film. The film is a mix of action, hot skin show, dances and big fights with some comedy.
Drona (Nitin) is the son of SP Manohar (Mukesh Rushi). He runs away from home when he is young after his father thrashes him for using his gun to threaten some street bullies. Drona’s mother Seetha all the time pines for the return of her son.
Indu (Priyamani) is the neighbor of Manohar. She keeps consoling Seetha and tells her that Drona will return one day and that she will marry him. Drona finally returns to his home one day but he does not reveal his identity to his parents.
But Indu learns that he is in fact Drona, the long lost son of Mukesh and Seetha. Sarkar (Kelly Dorjee) and his accomplice Dr. Sivaprasad are in hot pursuit of Drona. Why are they after him?
Why does Drona not reveal the truth to his parents? Did Drona really run away from home? Who stole the Nizam?s jewels? What was Drona doing all these years?
Answers to these and other questions can be found on the silver screen.
Performance:
Nitin comes of age, literally in the film. He is now a much mature actor and he has also given a power packed performance. He also dances well and the film should establish him as a mass hero once and for all.
Priyamani plays a hot and glamorous heroine. She does not disappoint her fans and exposes her skin liberally. Her bikni act in the first half and her rain dance in the second half are paisa vasool for everyone.
Mukehs Rushi for a change plays a good man in the film. He plays a honest and sincere police officer and he does justice to his role. Seetha gives him adequate support as his wife.
Kelly Dorjee plays villain and he is quite okay. Dr. Sivaparasad plays his sidekick and plays yet another role that he is getting identified with in film after film. Venu Madhav?s comedy is okay; his act of Pasupathy from Arundathi raises a few laughs.
Rakhi Sawant appears in an item song and she sizzles in the slow but hot number.
Drona has everything that one looks for in a film, romance, action, big fights, suspense, item song, hot exposing by the heroine, good dances by the hero and decent photography.
But the film is not as interesting or exciting as one would expect it to be. the not so racy screenplay and none too novel plot mar the impact of the film to a large extent.
It is now up to the audiences to give Nitin that much needed big hit by patronizing Drona in a big way, even if it only to see Priyamani in her hot and revealing outfits.
